Swansong

In today's news
Humanity has been forsaken
Drained the hourglass sand
Awakened the apocalypse and
Nature's retaken her land
Humanity is being shaken
The foundations of society that were laid
Have been decayed, outweighed, and displayed
To us in the form of the very blade
That we once used, to wage war
And what for?
Humanity has been mistaken
Used, abused, and pillaged the earth
Enslaving her children right after birth
Taking from her in abundance and dearth
Thinking she won't fight back, what was it all worth?
Humanity will be forgotten
All attempts of men to be immortalised
Kings and leaders throughout history - none wise
Will fail to stand in the face of time
For, self destruction is our paradigm
This is our swansong right to the end
This is our swansong, can't make amends

No Rush

Summer has come and passed
I’m done, at last
Rivers so wide and free
So why, can’t I be
Touching the winter breeze
Need something to warm my feet
I’ll sit a while here
It’s nice here
The lights are dim
I’ve got company
My whiskey neat
Filled to the brim
Nothing to make me weep
My worries, I won’t keep
It’s as simple as it be
If I shut my eyes, I can’t see
No rush, no need
No rush, no need

Enter the End

Enter the end
This is where we begin
In reverie
You asked to be let free
Save all your tears
Nothing to come of it
Just bend your knee
Deft are those who submit
We become what we pretend
It's all just timing
Struggling to comprehend
What we are fighting
Once the safety of your home
Now four walls burning
Thought you started just a spark
But we're caught in lightning

Signal the Sirens

Life & death, like sun and rain
Encompassing all, joy and pain
Lifeless eyes, cold as my breath
I even scare the creature of death
Unsure of the time and place
Sifting through the heaps of souls
The time you took to reap and sow
Is how much time it took to know
So many souls to get out my way
It's harder for me to see in the day
You expect me to rid you of pain
Signal the sirens, it's daylight again
